Wedding food station ideas
Weddings don’t have to be a sit down meal, so if looking for something completely different then consider food stations, this can be for both your wedding breakfast and/or evening food. Luxury, fun or simply delicious nibbles will add a sense of ‘wow’ to your big day, so here are some wedding reception food station ideas to consider.
For the main wedding breakfast you would need 3 different stations plus a fabulous sumptuous dessert buffet to finish.
And its easy to cater for vegetarians, vegans, & Gluten free guests within the following ideas so everyone is looked after.
1. Burrito box station
Don’t just think chili, how about Shredded chicken with chipotle & cheese or Beer battered fish served with Mexican slaw, Elote (corn, grated parmesan & paprika) & white bean hash with tequila, all served with rice, soft tortillas & jalapenos, pile in a soft tortilla lined box, find a seat, blanket or hay bale & enjoy.
2. Pie station
Pick your favourite pies, & choose something different too, such as Kangaroo or Pheasant if in season and offer a little selection of mini pies with creamy flavoured mash & a fabulous rich sauce, Wedding food should be fun and memorable for all the right reasons, and this will tick the box.
3. Mini burgers
When it comes to food station ideas, mini burgers, usually referred to as ‘sliders’are ideal as they’re not too big and cumbersome and are easy to just ‘slide’ down, therefore allowing you to sample all the stations, Whack on some cheese, bacon, layer on the onions, pop in some lettuce and choose & sauce & you’re onto a winner
4. Mac’n’Cheese
Always a winner, Creamy Macaroni cheese made Wedding food station special with the sides, lobster or crab, chorizo, avocado , garlic mushrooms, choose your favourites and let the guests have fun putting theirs together.
5. Dessert buffet
What’s better than one dessert? Lots of mini luxury desserts! Wedding food ideas include Baked salted caramel cheesecake, profiteroles with crème patisserie, mini berry tarts, Gin & tonic jellies, lemon possets & macaroons – and these are just a few of many options which would go down a treat at your wedding. If you are having a wedding cake this can take centre stage of your buffet and the guests can eat alongside the other desserts.
Evening nibbles..
6. Popcorn station
Jars of flavoured popcorns are great fun and allow guests to nibble away at their leisure. You can order little personalised cones with the names of the bride and groom printed on them or maybe the wedding date as an extra element.
7. Donut station
Donut walls are fun & you can either hire or make one yourself, then you just have to choose your doughnuts, if it’s mid -summer stick to just iced doughnuts rather than filled ones, as the filling may try to escape.
8. Pizza van
If you’re throwing a more rustic style of wedding a wood fired pizza van might be just up your street. With an array of toppings your wedding evening food will be solved all in one station, even your vegetarian guests will be happy.
9. Ice cream van
Ice cream vans are ideal for a family-friendly summer wedding. Think florals; think lace; think delicious baby pink sundaes with multi-coloured sprinkles. While an ice cream van will do the trick you may prefer a vintage ice cream cart or bicycle seller or but mini tubs from a local ice cream company & ask your caterer to hand them out from a big basket, a lovely personal touch.
10. Candy floss machine
Candy floss machines can be hired at a very small cost and what a wonderful way to sweeten a wedding reception. When was the last time you actually enjoyed the decadent indulgence of pure sugar on a stick? Kids and adults alike will love this idea.
